Stay Safe!

We are toughing out the hurricane in Warm Springs in a big beautiful inn. Perched up on in the mountains. I know. My life is rough. I'll try and survive.

Thursday night we had every intention to stay home, but after watching the news and talking with the in laws and remembering hurricane Isabel, we changed our plans. When hurricane Isabel came Ryan was three months old. Having a baby in a house with no AC, power, and water for almost two weeks was hard. I don't want to imagen doing that with four kids! So this morning we woke up and started packing. The kids went up ahead of us with my in laws so that David and I could get the house ready. Since we've only been in our house for two months, we're not sure what to except. We're also only a few blocks from the Elizabeth River so I'm a little worried about flooding. I guess we'll find out soon! Around noon David and I finished up, packed up the car, and headed out. As we were driving I noticed people outside securing their things and others who maybe not so worried. My view on safety sure changed after I had kids. I kind of like the excitement of the storm, but with kids, I'd rather be somewhere I KNOW won't flood or loose power. So here we are with our lovely view of the mountains.

Even though this hurricane has now been down sized to a Catagory 1, it is still expected to do a lot of damage. Hampton Raods is suppose to get a lot of flooding just from the storm surge! At least it will put out the Dismal Swamp fires so we can all breathe again. I don't know about you, but I think it's better safe than sorry as they always say.

So stay safe not stupid, friends and family. Always be prepared, right?
