One week down, thrity-five more to go

First week of school is over and so far Ryan says he likes it and Connor likes it, but is disappointed that they don't play as many games in first grade as they did in kindergarten. All in all we survived! The really test will be when homework begins. I think I'm dreading it more than the boys. I'm trying to figure out how to fit it in my afternoon and evening along with making dinner, taking care of a teething baby, dealing with Isabel's needs and also making sure the boys and I sit down and read all the books they need to read every night. Did I say sit down?! That must be a mistake! Or maybe a dream.

So for the first day of school the boys were super excited! They both woke up before my alarm went off and when I did get up, they were both dressed and ready to go. Ryan already got himself cereal and had his back pack on. I think I was more nervous about their first day than they were. We got lucky and found out our bus stop is on the corner right in front of our house. For the rest of the week David got up and "got the boys ready". He said every morning he got up and went to tell the boys to get dressed and pour them cereal and found them already dressed and eating. So far so good! We are all enjoying that school in  Portsmouth starts an hour later than Chesapeake schools.

We are spending the second week of school playing hooky and joining the Gonzalez side of the family on an Outer banks vacation. Poor David can't take anymore time off work so he won't be joining us. I'm not quite sure how much of a 'vacation' it will be, but I'll take it! Ryan is having to bring some homework to keep up with class. We'll see if it actually gets done or just procrastinate and do it over the weekend when we get back.

So for this school year I will enjoy the changes we have that have been for the better and I will enjoy spending time with Isabel and Zac. Next year Isabel starts Kindergarten, but I'm not thinking about that right now. Just enjoying that I have her home for now and that the boys love their new school so much.
